Just finished the L2TD session on wikis. We already have a wiki for our region's library service. It's a great way to post new workflows, let everyone know what programming is on the calendar, and to generally update everyone no matter how remote their branch. Sometimes we at Central Branch forget to let everyone know of new things going on in the service. The wiki is a great way to keep them "posted" - pardon the pun.

Seattle Library Architecture

I love this picture of a ceiling/wall in the Seattle Library. It reminds me of rows and rows of books. When I look at the hundreds of small windows I also think of hundreds of openings for knowledge, information, imagination, creativity, fun, relaxation.....all the things we libraries pride ourselves on providing for our customers. Those windows are the portals for hundreds and millions of ideas, thoughts and new discoveries. The clear glass gives a feeling of freedom....freedom for ideas and information to flow in as well as out.
